Usually Whisky in the Cask is diluted to a lower ABV of up to 40% before being bottled. In contrast, a Cask Strength Whisky is bottled at the ABV (alcoholic strength) it comes out of the cask, without any dilution.

In November 2016, the Mars Tsunuki Distillery was established in Minamisatsuma City, Tsunuki. The "Single Malt Komagatake Tsunuki Aging" is a single malt whisky created to commemorate the opening of this new distillery, with a limited release of 2,274 bottles.
