Scapa
Scapa distillery opened in 1885 with the intention of catering to the growing blended whisky market at that time and operated for a century and as many other distilleries also went through some ownership changes. It was silent for about 2 years from 1934 and was rebuilt in 1959. It was once considered to have the longest fermentation period of 120 hours which has since been reduced to about 70ish hours or so. Their unique Lomond style stills (barrel shaped neck) was originally designed in the 1950s but has undergone some design changes since then.
