Nose: Full of Corinth raisins, prunes, marmalade, chocolate, a sweet summer fruit with old leather. Palate: Peppery initially with tropical fruit and menthol flavour. Finish: Long with a touch of smoke.

Nose: Displays aromas of ripe oranges, polished hardwood floors and old leather. Some heathery notes develop along with a touch of menthol and vanilla. Palate: Very fruity, juicy ripe oranges along with dark chocolate, toasted malt and a developing edge. Finish: Smooth and long finish with a menthol note remaining.

This highly rated Japanese single malt from the Hanyu Distillery is a quarter cask bottled in 2011 by Ichiro Akuto. Reportedly only 200 bottles were released exclusively for Mitsukoshi after vatting of 2 Quarter Casks ("Chibidaru"). A rare bottling indeed. Rated 90+ on Whisky Base by about 5 reviewers.

A collaboration between the acclaimed graphic artist and Bowmore’s Master Blender this bottling pays homage to a legend, the Devil which has shaped the village of Bowmore. After the initial maturation in American oak hogsheads the liquid continued its journey into Essencia® barriques, a rare ‘Rose Oak’ dating back to the 1830s, to bring an exceptionally deep, powerful and distinctive character to the fore.

The exquisite wooden box packaging is a clear reminder of the Distillery's maritime heritage. "Honeyed sweetness, exotic spices and citrus is followed by fruit cake and bitter chocolate. Over time gentle undertones open up with hints of fresh vanilla and sticky toffee pudding. Sweet and spicy and quickly develops a range of signature Old Pulteney flavours from honey, rum soaked raisins and Californian oranges to the heavier notes of seasoned leather, pralines and a touch of the salty North Sea air.
