The name implies "matured in wooden tubs".  The distillation technique seems to have involved the direct fire method and bamboo charcoal filteration. Discontinued in 1999. No box available.

A limited release of 2021 and part of the Tsukuriwake selection, this Hakushu bottling has been matured in Spanish Oak. Only 300 bottles were made available in Japan followed by an undisclosed number for worldwide markets. Nose: Cacao, Manuka Honey, Dark Chocolate. Palate: Soft sweetness interlaced with a hint of drak chocolate bitterness. Finish: smooth and again some dark chocolate notes.

A predecessor to the Hibiki releases, the Suntory Prestige was bottled in 1989 to celebrate Suntory's 90th Anniversary. Most of the malt in this bottling reportedly came from the Yamazaki Distillery combined with grain whisky.
