"Tamashii" is Soul  or Spirit in Japanese. Bottled by Mizunara for its 4th anniversary, matured in refill bourbon barrel. Subtle peat smoke, charcoal ash & earthy notes combined with sweet vanilla, honey, citrus and fresh tropical fruits like banana. Vanilla sweetness combined with a saltiness that finally gives way to peppery notes and spices such as cloves and hints of dark chocolate. Nice long and complex finish.

A limited release of 251 bottles worldwide with the label designed by a Japanese artist Kenro Shinchi. WhiskyFun rated 85 points (SGP 564) Extract "Mouth (neat): it’s really good, I’d almost call this ‘good thin peat’. Limoncello, oysters, ashes, riesling, mercurochrome ...With water: same, while the body got bigger rather than thinner once water’s been added. Comments: very good for sure, just rather ‘hesitating’."

The Batch 1 release of this Special Selection for "The Bothy" series was first matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred for a secondary maturation into smaller American Oak casks called Quarter Casks for a minimum period of 18 months. This greater contact between the whisky and oak results in a much more intense maturation over a shorter period of time. A full bodied Arran with rich vanilla sweetness and bold peppery notes in between alongside fresh fruits and a hint of dark chocolate.

12,000 bottles were released in Sep 2015. A 'bothy' refers to a simple shelter, usually unlocked and available for anyone to use free of charge and generally available as a basic accommodation for gardeners or other workers on an estate.

A natural cask strength whisky matured in a Sherry Hogshead, this is the first Private Cask Bottling for Mizunara Hong Kong. A great balance between the sherry flavours from the cask while showcasing the Arran spirit even after 15 long years. Rich raisins, apricots combined with malty cereals and a long complex finish. The sixth edition release of this Peated Malt series from the Arran Distillery in 2015 has been peated to a level of 20 ppm (as a benchmark Ardbeg tends to use a 50 ppm malt for its Ardbeg 10). On the west coast of the Isle of Arran lies a mystical and windswept peat bog called Machrie Moor. Legend has it that the warrior giant Fingal tethered his favourite dog Bran to one of the many stone circles strewn across the terrain (as shown on the label). This particular stone circle is called Fingal's Cauldron Seat.
