Distilled in the Winter of 1983 (most likely in the first few months of 1983 before the Port Ellen Distillery closed permanently in May 1983) at Port Ellen and matured in a Sherry Butt for 25 Years, this rare single malt was bottled by Douglas McGibbon & Co in Autumn in 2008. "On the nose, this Port Ellen is oceanic with seaweed, iodine and a character of fresh leather. The palate opens with rich smoke and creasote and develops sweetness with burnt caramel. "A marriage of the sea and fruitiness on the nose, enjoy its saline and marine quality alongside the nuances of its Sherry Cask heritage. On the palate, an initially dry fore-taste runs to pepperiness, softened by the characteristics of the cask. This brown sugar shochu is made with rice white koji and vaccum distillation, 'Rento' is named after the Italian musical term, meaning slowly or gently. This brown sugar shochu is matured using a method called onkyo jukusei (acoustic aging), in which certain acoustic vibrations are transmitted to the storage tank to promote aging. Acoustic aging is a method of having shochu age slowly in a cradle with music. Lento is aged for about three months, exposed to classical music by great composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Vivaldi, which is converted into vibrations by the tank-mounted transducer. This Shochu has a mellow & gentle aroma yet rich flavors.

Bottled in 2014, this is a distillery bottling with 4530 bottles released by Diageo as a part of its limited releases. The distillery, one of the iconic distilleries in Lowland region of Scotland, was closed in 1993 (a year after this liquid was distilled) and is currently in the process of being revived by Ian Macleod Distillers. This bottling has been rated at 90+ points on Whiskybase over 160 votes. Matured in a Refill American Oak, it is an excellent whisky with cereal notes, floral freshness, mint, citrus zest, fresh fruits and an elegant finish. A rare bottling indeed.
