This Islay single malt from Lagavulin is a Single Cask #111 whisky bottled by The Syndicate (reportedly a group of 10 whisky lovers with perhaps the right connections and a great nose & palate).
Distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2014 at the Bruichladdich Distillery, only 191 bottles were released. Independent bottlings of Lagavulin are extremely rare to come by in any case.

Originally released as a part of the 200th Anniversary in 2016, this 8 Years Old has now become a part of the permanent core releases. As Alfred Barnard (author of The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom) said of an 8 year old Lagavulin in the 1880s, this whisky is "exceptionally fine". The nose is soft, with milk chocolate and lemon and the palate is a magnificiently full-on Lagavulin.
