Aged in an Old Sherry Butt #105036 for 12 years, this is a rare single cask and one of the oldest aged releases in recent times from this small distillery in Japan (White Oak Distillery). 480 bottles were released in late 2020.  This is a rich, sherry cask matured whisky with dry figs, raisins and prunes, with a hint of spices and chocolate.

A fully sherry cask matured whisky from Balvenie, which is unusual. Each bottle is part of a batch which comprises a few hundred bottles coming from a single cask and hence likely to somewhat different than the other batch while retaining the characteristics of Balvenie's spirit and flavours of rich sherry oak, dried fruits and subtle spices overlaid with a soft nuttiness and a nice long finish.

Selected by David Stewart, the Balvenie Malt Master at the time this rare single cask #15354 from 1975  was distilled on 23rd September 1975 and bottled in April 2008 at a cask strength of 47.3% ABV. Bottled for the Taiwan market, only 216 bottles were released. "A richly complex aroma that is a harmonious blend of floral, fruity and spicy notes ~ including orange, fresh cherries, marzipan, cinnamon and a hint of allspice. Its taste reveals luscious layers of rich fruit, spicy oak, honey and delicate tannins. The flavours flow from sweet vanilla through to dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, apricots) and finish with subtle soft leather and tobacco leaf. Its finish is long and lingering with a crisp dry oakiness." (from Balvenie).

This 1988 Vintage 35 Years Old from the Bunnahabhain Distillery is a special bottling by Whisky Antique (Silver Seal) from a Single Cask #1024. Matured in a Sherry Cask for 35 Years and bottled at 46.5% this release of 60 bottles has a special label designed by The East Asia Whisky Company under the Manta Ray Genesis Edition.

The label captures the silhouette of a majestic Manta Ray made visible by the dark emerald and frigid pink clouds that emanate from its dotted pattern radiating in the colors of the marine environment it inhabits.

Whisky Fun Extract: Colour: mahogany. Nose: this is more old-school than the House of Lords. Not talking about the Scotch whisky. Prunes, old cognac, dates, chocolate, figs, whiffs of moss and old pine wood, a few mushrooms and a little liquorice, plus a few roasted nuts, especially pecans. Mouth: we're deeply reminded of some old Speyside malts by G&M. Like pre-war, bottled in the 1970s and 1980s. It is a time machine! More bouillons, chocolate, pipe tobacco, liquorice, truffles, puréed chestnuts, pears poached in Sauternes, very old Sauternes, very old Malaga… It is definitely very 'antique'. I would love to watch young whisky enthusiasts tasting this whisky, or similar whiskies, for the very first time. It would undoubtedly be a real revelation, as they are becoming so rare. Finish: rather long, rather sublime to tell you the truth. Comments: as I sometimes say, we could spend hours sipping a magnum of each to try, and fail to decide which one, between the Kinship and the Silver Seal, is our favourite. This is a single cask #10198 from Clyenlish matured in bourbon hogshead for 21 years and bottled by Kingsbury at Cask Strength under its "Celtic Labels". Kingsbury has been one of the most sought after Independent Bottlers with its roots in Japan.

Nose: Honey with candied citrus fruit and bees wax Palate: The texture is firm and clean with big bold fruits present along with vanilla. Adding water enhances the notes. Finish: some sea salt and a whiff of smoke. 

 Rated 90+ on Whiskybase. Only 245 bottles were released.

With dark fruits, old sherry wine, sugared plum, rich leather on the nose, this whisky is full of figs and sultana pudding, velvet dark chocolate on the palate with a hint of mellow cedar cigar boxes (Producer's Tasting Notes).
